Robot Magnetic Gripper Manipulating Axle In Heat Treatment Process

Lets see how robot gripper, designed and manufactured by HVR MAG, mounted at the end of the gantry robot, working as magnetic end effector, manipulates axle in medium and high frequency heat treatment process, in the workshop of the largest manufacturer of trailer axles in the world.

Heat treatment process involves the use of heating or chilling, normally to extreme temperatures, to achieve the desired result such as hardening or softening of a material.



In the unmanned workshop, axles need to be transferred/moved frequently from one processing line to another, which requires entails the configuration of robotic system.
The design of the robot gripper in the second picture, is more complicated than the first one. This magnetic end effector can rotate 360℃, to change the direction of positioning the axle.


In this process, the maximum temperature of axle is 300. Can the robot gripper handle workpiece of such high temperature?

For common magnetic end effectors, 300is too high to handle. But these magnetic grippers, were specially engineered, with water cooling system designed inside.

All these grippers are electrically switched on and off, PLC programmed to the robotic system. They consume no power during the transferring process, except the picking up and releasing moments.
