Why is Magnetic Lifters for Structural Steel Fabrication?

Why is magnetic lifters for structural steel fabrication? In a steel structural fabrication plant, everyday happenings include cutting, bending, welding, and assembling steel to create different products. But all these happenings need one thing to support, that is a lifter.

Why magnetic lifting systems rather than mechanical lifting devices for structural steel fabrication?

People who work with steel know the restrictions of mechanical lifting devices. Conventional lifters such as hooks, and clamps, can often cause difficulty and waste time. What’s more, manual work in a restricted space has a high risk of injury. Not to say, in some cases, the surfaces of the steel are easily damaged or marked with the hooks and clamps on. Fortunately, lifting magnets have been making clamps, slings and chains obsolete these days.

Why electro permanent magnetic lifters rather than electromagnetic lifters?

Both kinds of lifters can be called magnetic lifters. And both are designed and manufactured to load and/or unload steel sheets/plates from pallets, racks, cutting tables, shears, etc. But they are not the same. Actually, they have some obvious differences.
1. About safety. The electro permanent magnetic lifters don’t have to use electricity except during the “MAG”(magnetization) and “DEMAG” (demagnetization) phases. While electromagnetic lifters have to use electricity during the whole working process. If the power outage happens in the middle of work, it is very easy to cause severe accidents. Even with an (expensive) power outage protection system, the frequent exchange is needed.
2. About the post maintenance. Unlike the electromagnets, the electro permanent lifting magnets don’t need post-maintenance so frequently. One big reason is that it doesn’t need power during the holding process, and the internal coils do not heat up. It is of high durability.
3. About the energy efficiency. Needless to repeat this point because the electro permanent magnetic lifters can maximize the sheet material loading and/or unloading efficiency and reduce the energy consumption.
