Lifting Magnet Versus Lifting Clamp

This is a story about our lifting magnet product and Qingdao Oriental Tower Co., Ltd. In 2019, we had our first cooperation, this cooperation helped their factory solve the problem of low steel plate handling efficiency. What’s more surprising is that this company has purchased two more batches of our electric permanent magnetic lifter in the past two years. Their manager says that HVR MAG give him more than he expected.

Disadvantages of lifting clamp

Before the use of magnetic lifter, their lifting device for handling steel plates was the horizontal lifting clamp. Clamps and hooks have the following disadvantages:

  1. Low efficiency. Workers have to manually clamp the steel plate into 4 clamps each time. Sometimes the steel plate is unbalanced. Workers have to put it down and adjust the clamp position. This takes too much time during lifting, not suitable for working conditions where frequent lifting is required.
  2. Rely on labour. There are many steps that require manual handling, such as separate steel plates, fixing clamps, adjusting positions, etc. Usually requires at least 2 people working together.
  3. High failure rate. The steel plate clamp is easy to break and needs to be replaced regularly. Or it is easy to cause safety accidents.
  4. Poor safety. The gripping position of the clamp is not fixed, the steel plate is easy to fall.
  5. Damage to steel. Lifting the steel plate clamp will wear the surface of the steel plate and leave scratches.

Advantages of lifting magnet

Can our electric permanent magnet steel lifter solve the above problems? This customer has successively purchased three sets of our lifting magnet and the action speaks for itself. They said that the advantages of our products are mainly reflected in the following:

  1. High efficiency. The entire lifting process requires only one machine operation, saving at least 50% time compared to steel plate clamps.
  2. Labour saving. The electric permanent magnet holds only one steel plate at a time, so there is no need for workers to separate the steel plate or adjust the clamping position, reducing labour intensity. One person can easily operate the machine with the wireless remote control.
  3. Low failure rate. The working principle of an electric permanent magnet is to allow electric current to change the direction of the internal magnetic field at the moment of magnetisation and demagnetisation. It doesn’t need electricity to maintain the magnetic force. So it will not lose magnetism due to heating of the coil, which is very reliable. It is only necessary to periodically check and clean the magnetic adsorption surface, chain and buckle.
  4. High safety. The electric permanent magnet lifter is specially designed, the safety factor is at least 4 times the rated lifting force, which fully meets the safety lifting requirements. Even if there’s a power failure or cable break in the lifting process, the magnetic force will not disappear, so the steel plate will not fall.
  5. No damage to steel. The surface of the magnet is flat and will not wear or scratch the steel.
