Industrial Lift Magnet: Safety Precaution Attributes You Want Know

The industrial lift magnet has a wide range of applications in metalwork, machinery, steel fabrication, shipbuilding, industrial automation, foundries, warehouse, etc. And it is becoming more and more popular within the Third World countries these years. One big reason is that it features some safety precaution attributes. Yet many people have not known about it. HVR MAG, as one of China’s leading brands in providing electro-permanent magnetic solutions, here would like to share some knowledge about it.

Safety precautions that HVR MAG industrial lift magnet features:

A. Our electro-permanent magnet has a rated lifting force, and a magnetic pull force. The magnetic pull force is generally 2-4 times the lifting force so that the adsorbed object will not fall off during the lifting process. That is to say, the safety factor of our magnet is 3:1. For example, if you have a 100KG ferrous workpiece to handle with our magnet, then the lifting capacity of the lifting magnet would be 100 kg. And you will have to use a force of 300KG to pull the workpiece off.

B. Pre-magnetization is enough to lift the object, and then full magnetization is to transfer the object. Pre-magnetization is usually 80% of the magnetic force, and full magnetization is 100%, with an extra 20% to ensure material handling safety. landing-detection-device-of-lifting-magnets - HVR MAG

C. Some customers might have a question: if in the handling process, the operator mistakenly presses the “DEMAG” button, will the lifted object fall from the air? Here, HVR MAG provides two precautions: 1. Two buttons pressing at a time to demagnetize the magnet. 2. Our lifting magnets have a landing sensor (as the above picture shows) to detect whether the metal workpiece lands on the ground or not. If no landing is sensed, demagnetizing won’t work even if you press both buttons.

D. The last safety precaution comes with its properties: an electro-permanent magnet does not lose magnetism in case of a blackout. So even if the ferrous material is up in the air, the workpiece will not fall off and cause damage to personnel or equipment in case of a sudden power failure or voltage instability. Because the magnet only needs a pulse of electric current to magnetize within 2 seconds. And it consumes no electricity during the work process.
